Protecting our farmland

The Green Belt sites under threat are also valuable farmland that is much needed at this time. The UK population is growing and it must be fed.

We have seen recently how dependent we are on food imports: Brexit, trade policies, customs bureaucracy and long supply chains have increased concerns about food security.

We need more, not less land for producing food – production must rise by half in the next 30 years to sustain the growing global population.
