By restricting developers’ access to greenfield sites, the Green Belt helps to regenerate existing urban areas by encouraging the use of brownfield sites and reducing the amount of derelict land.
We do not think that AVBC has fully investigated all reasonable alternatives to releasing Green Belt land. It has not:
- fully utilised the brown field sites available
- considered the extent to which empty homes could be brought back into use
- maximised the density of housing on other proposed non-Green Belt allocations.
