Our mission is to save the areas of Green Belt designated for building by Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC) in its 2019 Local Plan. Once these are lost, they will be gone forever.
We believe that there is no justification for building on these green spaces as they continue to serve the purposes set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.
By protecting our Green Belt we seek to:
- maintain our identity as a village
- preserve our heritage and historic landscape
- ensure our schools and other local services can continue to meet the needs of all our residents

The proposed development of 245 houses, which will increase the village population by 20%, is neither socially nor economically sustainable, and the destruction of valuable farmland is unacceptable at a time when food security is an increasing concern.
The Council has proposed to destroy our Green Belt, yet the current housing need can be met using alternative means?

The two areas of Duffield Green Belt initially allocated for building were on Cumberhills Road and Wirksworth Road (a third, smaller site on Hazelwood Road was later added). A dozen other sites were also designated across the Borough.
While the 2019 plan which originally proposed this development has been withdrawn, we have no guarantee that the Green Belt sites will not be reinstated in any future plan.
Green Belt land should only be declassified in exceptional circumstances and the Council has not provided evidence that this is the case.
