By restricting developers’ access to green field sites, the Green Belt helps to regenerate existing urban areas by encouraging the use of brown field sites and reducing the amount derelict land.
We do not think that AVBC has fully investigated all reasonable alternatives to releasing Green Belt land. It has not:
- fully utilised the brown field sites available
- considered the extent to which empty homes could be brought back into use
- maximised the density of housing on other proposed non-Green Belt allocations.
